WelcomeThe Albany County Board of Elections was established and is mandated by Section 3-200 of the New York State Election Law. The Board’s operations are supervised by two Commissioners, each representing one of the two major political parties in New York State. Commissioners are nominated by majority vote of the County Committees of their respective political parties and are confirmed by vote of the County Legislature. Section 3-300 of the New York State Election Law requires equal representation of the two major political parties in the appointment of Board employees. What we do:
Access for Albany County Voters with DisabilitiesStarting in 2008, voters historically in need of assistance will be able to vote independently at all polling locations in Albany County. Each polling location will be equiped with a Premier AutoMark Ballot Marking Device. The familiar lever voting machines will also be available for the 2008 elections for voters who do not require assistance casting their vote. The ballot marking device has the ability to aide any voter who requires assistance in marking a paper ballot with their vote selections. The link below describes how the AutoMark works.
