Stores exceeding 10,000 square feet in Albany County that provide customers plastic bags now must offer a bag recycling program. Local Law D, passed unanimously by the County Legislature on May 12, 2008, requires a visible, clearly marked collection bin near the entrances where customers can conveniently dispose of bags to be recycled by the businesses.

Albany County Executive Mike Breslin has announced a plan for the closure of the Ann Lee Home, as the first step in the County's overall plan for complying with the directives of the New York State Commission on Health Care Facilities in the 21st Century (Berger Commission). Residents of the Ann Lee Home will be transferred to the Albany County Nursing Home starting late May of this year.

The training will open up opportunities for local small businesses to participate in the Albany Convention Center Project.
