JOB TITLE:              Senior Electrician      

DEPT./AGENCY:     Albany County Department of Public Works

PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES: The incumbent is responsible for the electrical maintenance and electrical operation of a variety of County buildings. Works consist of estimating, designing and working as a journey level electrician in the installation of electrical systems for County buildings. The work involves the performance of skilled and difficult electrical operations, electrical installations and repairs of electrical equipment and devices.  The Senior Electrician schedules work tasks and is permitted considerable leeway for planning the details of each job.  Direct supervision and oversight is exercised over the work of electricians, laborers, or other helpers.   The position is supervised by an administrative person in the unit. The employee is also responsible for managing a stock room of electrical supplies and materials.  Does related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Four years of experience at the journey level as an electrician.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:

1. Appropriate certification and bonding for the repairing and installation of fire alarm systems. 
2. Possession of license as Master Electrician in New York State at time of appointment.

STARTING SALARY: $49,899
