Court Advocacy and Assistance
Our Court Advocates offer a range of services to crime victims, including families of homicide victims. Court Advocates attempt to ease a victim's fears and confusion about the court process by defining and explaining what to expect, from initial reporting through police investigation, grand jury, and court appearances.
 
Educational Programs
The Albany County Crime Victim and Sexual Violence Center provides free lectures to civic, educational, business, and professional groups in Albany County. Special programs are available to parents, teachers, and youth. All presentations are tailored to the audience.
 
Employment Services Unit (ESU)

This unit applies a unique approach to creating safer communities and reducing offender recidivism by helping to prepare individuals who are under probation supervision to enter and remain in the workforce.

 
Intensive Supervision Program

The Intensive Supervision Program (ISP) is an Alternative to Incarceration  provided to superior courts and Local Conditional Release Commissions by participating probation departments.

 
Interlock Program

In conjunction with the latest professionally recognized probation practices, the Ignition Interlock Program provides Probation Officers with an invaluable tool to help ensure compliance with the law and probation conditions.

 
Intern Program

Albany County Probation Department maintains a Probation Intern Program in order to help qualified area students obtain a basic overall knowledge of Probation Services and how these services are provided to our clients, the courts and the community.

 
Juvenile Community Accountability Board

JCAB seeks to help juveniles understand the impact crime has on the community, and provide them an opportunity to repair the harm they have caused.

Pretrial Release Services

This program began operation in 1985. This project provides all criminal court clients, initially unable to post bail, the opportunity to be interviewed to determine eligibility for release from jail.

 
Probation Services

Agency services include the preparation of pre-sentence investigations and reports for the criminal courts and the supervision of criminals sentenced to probation.

 
Support for Sexual Assault Victims
The Crime Victim and Sexual Violence Center offers information and confidential counseling to victims of sexual assault, and to their families and friends.
