Optical Scan Voting Machines

All counties in New York State must make the change from the lever voting machines to an optical scan voting machine. This change is effective as of the Primary Elections to be held September 14, 2010.

A step-by-step guide is AVAILABLE ONLINE [PDF*]. We suggest you take a look at it now and review it again prior to the election. You may, of course, print it out and bring it to your polling site if you wish. You can also watch an instructional video.

Additionally, representatives from the Board of Elections will be demonstrating the new machines the follow dates and times:
