About the Court Facilities Project

The Albany County Court Facilities project is a once in a lifetime opportunity for all those involved. The new court buildings will be the cornerstone for the judicial system in Albany County for generations to come. The Court Facilities project is transforming our aging courtrooms of the last century into comfortable, modern and effective judicial settings to meet the current and future needs of the residents of Albany County.

The Court Facilities project includes the renovation of the Albany County Court House, the construction of a Family Court on Clinton Avenue and the construction of a Criminal Court (Justice Building) on Lodge Street.

The plan is a result of a complete review and update of the space needs of the State Supreme, County and Family Courts. It also incorporates the space needs of affiliated county operations, court support operations and other tenants of the Court House. Extensive space use design, architectural design, structural evaluation and site design work has been completed by a team of professional consultants. The result is a firm, well-defined plan based on an up-to-date needs analysis, extensive facility and site review and substantial preliminary design work that will meet the needs of Albany County’s court system well into the future.
